Jezero Municipality
Summary
The present-day municipality of Jezero was created from a part (approximately 18%) of the pre-1992 municipality of Jajce. It is located in the Republika Srpska entity, while the remainder of Jajce today lies within Central Bosnia Canton, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the 1950s and 1960s, the NOB heritage of Jajce municipality was the subject of two published papers; Šefik Bešlagić’s Spomenici narodnooslobodilačke borbe u Jajcu i njihova zaštita (Monuments to the People’s Liberation Struggle in Jajce and their preservation) (1958) and Perko Vojinović’s Spomen ploče iz NOB-e i partizanska groblja u Jajcu i okolini (Memorial plaques to commemorate the NOB and Partisan cemeteries in Jajce and its surroundings) (1969). These publications, in addition to providing tangible information on the existence of a large number of monuments and memorials within Jajce municipality, also in some cases provide terminus post and ante quem for the creation of monuments and memorials where no more specific information can be found.
Within the boundaries of the present-day Jezero municipality, a total of 3 monuments were documented by these two publications. These were all recorded during field research undertaken by Aida Zulum in Summer and Autumn 2019. In addition, one memorial plaque which lies upon the territory of the neighbouring Jajce municipality has been included in the report presented here, due to the fact that at the time of its creation it lay upon the territory of the (former) Jezero municipality, which was absorbed into the larger Jajce municipality at some point between 1953 and 1961 (most likely during 1955 reforms in self-government; see Pejanović (2014) for further details), and for reasons of expediency.

Aida Zulum
Aida Zulum is a resident of Jajce, where she runs the Jajce Adventure tourist agency. She works hard to promote the town and tourism to it, and organizes a number of cultural events in the town. Her work – and that of the Agency – has a strong focus on employing young people and encouraging volunteerism as a means to gain work experience.
